Mercy Babies, where do they go...

images Anonymous on the comment thread of this post writes:

They are very very close indeed. Interestingly Mercy enjoys taking in 'troubled girls' including young pregnant ones before promptly forcing them to give up their newborn children to 'caring families' associated with hillsong.

Then the girls' only option once being allowed to graduate 'The Program' to get their children back is to move into a hillsong accommodation...

If I say more i'll probably be shot...

So what does Mercy say?

25. If a young woman is pregnant in the program what happens after she has had her baby?

A young woman who is pregnant will attend a basic decision making course which equips her to make an informed decision about the future of her and her baby.  As our program is designed for young women during their pregnancy rather than after, our staff will assist a pregnant resident who chooses to parent her baby in making an individualised plan that will prepare her to effectively parent in a safe environment. Young women who choose to place their child for adoption or alternative care return to Mercy Ministries to complete the program.

A young woman who chooses to parent her child will leave the program after her baby is born. Staff will assist the young woman in securing suitable living arrangements and will continue to offer support by distance or in person where possible. [source]

It's just me being cynical but I find it hard to believe that the evangelical Christian Counsellors would be able to give unbiased advice on the best option for a baby.  Considering their ideas date back to the fifties.

So Anon.,  interesting information and thoroughly reprehensible if true.

and, of course, no mention of the option of abortion!

that's right killing babies can only be done under the sanction of god.

Notice how it says they will help the girls make an informed decision for their baby's future?
Umm...the terms/conditions implictly suggest abortion isn't even an option, they are either giving birth and keeping it, or having it adopted out (temporarily?). That baby WILL be born...so what's the point of the counselling, to push their agenda on these girls? Maybe having a child at that point in their life wouldn't be such a great idea. Why should they shove their notions of right or wrong down their throats. Then again, if a young pregnant girl is going to be all involved in some secretive exorcism bible-study cult group, then she really does have a few screws loose...and thus, easily manipulated and open to abuse!

Mercy Ministries needs to be stopped.
